Post-Nap Conversations

Cole was sitting at the computer this afternoon when Jahmia woke up from her nap. She was still groggy as she approached him and engaged in the following conversation.

"Hi Jahmia," Daddy says.
"Where's Benjamin?" Jahmia asks.
"He went home." Daddy replied.
"Where's the box?" Jahmia quickly added.
"Daddy didn't bring one home from work. I'm sorry."
"oh," Jahmia says followed by a short pause. "Do you have any money?"

When little conversations like this happen we are left astounded and amazed. We delight in them not because of her unbridled tongue, but for her tenacious memory and caring heart. For the past year and a half Cole has brought cardboard boxes home and then turns them into houses for Mia to play in. So the last one he brought home was more than 2 weeks ago. Since then she'd ask at various times if Daddy could bring one home, not for her but for Benjamin!

Regarding the money she asked for, Daddy often has change for her after he makes his run to L.A. or San Diego. She asks for his coins because she's saving it for the Boardwalk. (Smart girl!)

May in Review

While I was at school, Jahmia spent time with one of her best buddies Benjamin and "Uncle" Jenna. They are both in that stage of imaginary play and are fully submerged in experiencing the here and now.

Ben and Mia under the snowball tree Pure excitement

Pure innocents

Jahmia and Daddy spent some quality time together at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium.

Pure happiness.

Above are a few snaps shots from school and our 2 clinical locations. We practiced starting IV's on each other, mine veins would not comply. Now at the end of 2nd semester we have our complete skills set and are off to participate in a work study program over the summer.

Mother's Day Celebrating SIX years together (May12, 2008)!

Penny and Cole

Another Mia Moment

We are a very affectionate family (big surprise, I know). One of our goodbye's usually contains a blown kiss...

promptly caught with your right hand and "saved" in your heart. Oooh, I do love being a Mommy =)

Where's Jahmia???? It's too quiet...

First, to all of you who are wondering... YES those are my heels (thank you Heather!)

Grandma + Mia + M&M's + Thomas the Train =

Cole and Tiffany's FIRST date night! Thank you Lord! Thank you Penny (my super mom-in-law) for spending pretty much all afternoon and evening with Jahmia. We were so happy that you gave us this time together, so precious! Oh yeah, my favorite part... Mia fell asleep to Grandma reading her a story that she read to Cole as a kid. Yep, she's still got the touch!

Oh this is the day...

...that the Lord has made, I WILL rejoice and be glad in it! WHY? Because God is wonderful. He deserves it.

... secondly, I just finished Level II of the RN program! This semester's material was meatier and took a while to chew on. The clinical schedules hung in a precarious balance of am's vs. pm's, a lot of late nights and early mornings. Study groups rock! There were some days where I only saw Jahmia for a few hours! What an adjustment. To God be the glory, to Him I thank. To my husband, he carried me and our household through this last year, you are my HERO! Cole, I love you more today than I did yesterday. Thank you for believing in me and helping me achieve my dream. To Mia, you're a trooper and I love you. You make Mommy's heart sooooo happy =) You are my best-est baby girl and I look forward to being in your world again. Thank you family and my best girl friends for cheering me on and seeing us and praying us through this season. All my love and hugs to you... A REAL HUG is on its way...
